One of my favorite things about this time of year is all the angels that appear. They are in stores, in windows, in front yards, on top of Christmas trees. They are everywhere! Here in Colorado we are already making snow angels. Hallelujah!
But then, when the New Year comes around, these Angels seem to go away. And I want to shout to everyone who will listen, “Hey! Angels aren’t just for Christmas!”
What I believe is that Angels are with us always. I believe that every one of us has our own Guardian Angel assigned just to us, who is here for each of us every single day. I have my own Guardian Angel, and you have yours. And because of this, you are never, ever alone. I believe my Guardian Angel is here to help guide me on my soul’s path and also to help me with what I need, daily.
Many have asked me, what about God? Well, I talk to him also, daily. And I feel so lucky I have these two amazing powerful sources to reach out to. The difference? I believe that God is here for everyone, every single person on this earth. God is omnipotent. But your Guardian Angel is here just for you. You and only you.
Others have asked, “Is my Guardian Angel my grandpa/grandma/relative that has passed?” And I tell them no. While I believe those who have passed often come to visit us or look out for us, they are still human in mind and spirit. I believe your Guardian Angel has never been human and has been with you since your soul’s birth. I believe your Guardian Angel is purely divine, that your Guardian Angel is pure love.
For me, I not only believe in my Guardian Angel, I know her. She came to me in my hospital room the night before my brain surgery many years ago, and has been with me ever since. (You can read the story on the About Me page of my website). But you don’t have to have a brain aneurysm or a near death experience to connect to your Guardian Angel. God literally hit me in the head to get me to listen to mine, but I hope maybe just by simply reading this, it might help you to try to listen to yours.
Your Angel is here to help you. He/She (they can be either energy) is pure love. Nothing but. You can ask your Angel anything. I ask for small things, like help with a parking spot. I don’t want to bother God with parking spot help, but my Angel is here just for me and only me, so I ask her, “Angel please help me find a parking spot!” For larger things, help with a big decision, or help with fear, I talk to both, “Dear God and Angel, please help me and guide me towards what to do next.” The choice in what you ask for is all yours, but what I want to emphasize again, is that I believe your Guardian Angel is here for you and only you, so ask away. Never feel selfish. You are your Angel’s only job.
BUT-I also believe you have free will. You ultimately are in charge of your life and the choices you make. So, you do have to ask for the help. You do have to want it. And, of course you won’t always get everything you ask for, just like God with unanswered prayers, because I believe just like God, your Angel is looking out for your best interests, your soul’s path.
So, the big question, how to connect? When I first started connecting, it helped me to sit in a quiet space, light some candles, take a few deep breaths and tell my Guardian Angel I wanted him/her in my life. And I believe all of our Guardian Angels want to connect. They want to help you. So, they will be so excited when you are ready! They are waiting for you. Now, there most likely won’t be a huge lightning bolt or a large chorus of voices singing to you when you start (But please let me know if there is! There are some incredible stories out there!), but what I do think you will feel, is a deep sense of calm and peace. A feeling that everything is right. My Guardian Angel often tells me, “All is well.” I hear it exactly when I need to. You might get a similar repetitive message from yours with words that resonate with you.
I believe the hardest part of connecting is slowing down and taking time to do so. Our human world is busy and we often get in our heads. But even five minutes a day can be effective. Five minutes. And that little tiny piece of your day can make such a huge difference. Slow down. Take a few deep breaths. Get centered in your heart. Listen.
Once you have connected to your Guardian Angel, you will love what happens. Ask, and then pay attention. Often when you are calm and quiet and alone, you may hear or feel the answer in your head. I love to journal during these times and write down what I hear and feel. And even when you can’t be alone or sit quietly, still talk to your Angel all the time, kind of like the imaginary friend you had when you were little. And be listening, be present, pay attention to the world around you. When you are in the car, you might be very surprised by the lyrics of a song you haven’t heard in ages telling you exactly what you needed to hear that day. Or a billboard right in front of your face telling you something. Or, you may be running errands and a book literally falls off the shelf right at your feet with a title that means something to you. Or someone you have just been thinking about calls you minutes later. Or a check for three cents over exactly what you need ends up in your mailbox. Whether small or big, the stories I have heard, and experienced, are incredible. Yours will be too.
So, please, don’t discard the Angels after Christmas. I believe your Guardian Angel is there for you every minute of every day. And loves you deeply. So talk to your Angel, then listen. And when you get your answer or your parking spot, please don’t forget to say thank you.
I hope you have a magical holiday season and that all your wishes come true. Oh, and maybe if you see a beautiful Angel statue, or sign, or figurine in a store this month that calls to you, purchase it, and leave it out all year long.
